Notes
Blur's second album, a rebranding of the band's sound and image, was to provide the template for the forthcoming Britpop movement that would revitalize Britain in the mid-1990s.
Stylorouge, Blur's graphic designers, described the process of designing "Modern Life Is Rubbish" for the group: "Blur's second album arrived, replete with a parochial greetings card-style image — modes of transport were chosen as a way to illustrate the downfall of standards in Britain; a populist oil painting of the famous Mallard steam train was accompanied by 1950's 'Festival Of Britain' typography."
The American pressings feature the demo version of "Chemical World" as the record company there felt the version of that song was better suited to that market. It is a slightly different mix than the one that features on CD2 of the UK single release with a different intro and the drums are louder.
"Young And Lovely" and "Popscene" were originally exclusive to the Japanese pressings of Modern Life Is Rubbish.

- Just picked this up from HMV and it sounds great to my ears through my fairly low budget (not to me!) system…Project Debut Carbon with Ortofon 2M Red cart TT, Marantz PM6007 amp and Wharfedale Diamond speakers. Vocals clear as a bell, no pops or skips…bass and guitars punchy. This pressing is very good indeed.
Love the orange vinyl too! - Just ordered a copy from HMV for 25 quid. Just curious as to why if limited to 5000, why this hasn't sold out. 5000 isn't a lot globally
- I have a copy of this with all the same runout and details etc, however mine is Black vinyl not Orange. Does anyone know of this or have the same?

its just blur, what more do you want? great britpop tunes, great tunes in general, great in general, want!!!!- Great sound, little surface noise on my copy and no skips. Probably just needs another clean or two! The orange translucent color is a nice touch. Purchased my copy at Shuga Records in Chicago

If anyone has the cover only please let me know. I have the vinyl without the cover- Currently under 30 quid on Amazon... with reviews of it skipping and being defective. Love the record and want a copy but is this one to avoid? Any advice appreciated
- In the US this is available at Barnes and Noble.
I would pick it up Optimal did a fine job on the pressing.
I can't comment on the mastering since this is the first time I have ever listened to it. - I dont know if its just mine but it sounds very flat and the voice is quite distorted. I dont know what to think honestly. It probably depend on the turntable but i do not have this issue with other (black) vinyls I own for example. I'd like to purchase a different version of it and make a comparison.
- I’ve got a copy of this issue for sale. $55 with media mail shipping in the U.S. Message me if interested
