Manu Chao – Clandestino

Excelente, no puede faltar en cualquier colección. No puedo comparar con una primera versión, pero esta versión en dos LP y CD suena de lujo. La única pega es que no lleva fundas anti-estáticas y es fácil arañar los discos al sacarlos la primera vez.

Anyone else having very badly pressed records? Looking at them being very 'dirty'? Cleaning doesn't help so MPO messed up. It's like GZ Media and Quality Record Pressings who also don't seem to care about pressing beautiful shiny records. It seems to be a trend with newly pressed records lately. More and more pressing plants don't care about this anymore. Soundquality could be okay but hey, what about the pressing quality?

Absolutely flat records despite having the CD in same pocket as second record. Sounds great, no flaw.

My labels on the 2nd record are switched. Label for side C on side D and label for side D is on C. Anyone else has the same?

I laughed when I read that the album style is "pachanga", but really, it is mainly a dub album (with some more upbeat excursions) done with, it's said, a very limited tracker (not a limited mixer, of course), and it strikes a fun contrast between sounding raw and elaborate. It was extremely successful in Spain and other countries and its influence is still felt. It was very fresh at the time as dub was, and still is, a style that barely appears on the mainstream, so it sounded like little else. It was also overplayed to oblivion, Manu Chao became a bit a trope of himself and went from underground darling to a sudden worldwide visibility.

I think it is still very cool. He knew when he got a melody and he knew what to do with it, and the mix of styles and influences works very well.

We all know how epic this album is. It was so good people put his name in the same breath as Bob Marley. As for the pressing, even though I have nothing to compare it to, I'm very happy to have this 2013 release on vinyl. The vocals really shine through on this one. The vinyl really puts the spotlight on Manu's singing and melodic, soulful songwriting. I can't believe I waited this long to get this timeless work on wax.

Superb sound, clear and balanced, specially the extra blue 10" single, great for mixing.
