Paul McCartney – Tug Of War

A great return to form from Paul, aided by George Martin

Quiet EMI vinyl pressing with excellent sonics and wide soundstage. Every instrument is very well defined. sound quality is real improvement over 1st US press.

Tug of war sounds beautiful especially when the orchestra kicks in followed by a smooth transition into Take it away. A beautiful album through and through. Well done Sir Paul.

Beautiful album from Mccartney, new remix, new stereo, good pressing, I enjoy it.

I've read complaints about the 2015 remix, but I actually prefer it to the original. The overall attack is less harsh and more balanced. Take, for example, "Ballroom Dancing" on headphones at "Rock'n'Roll" volume. The '82 mix is like a barrage of sewing needles assaulting the eardrums, whereas the 2015 remix smoothes the sound out so that it can be played loud without causing permanent brain damage. I think Paul got it right to give Tug Of War a 21st Century makeover. Besides, who am I to question his judgment regarding his own creation? For regular listening henceforth, it's the remix for me.
Now if he would just revisit Venus And Mars..

I was 9 when TUG OF WAR came out, and it was my introduction to McCartney, thanks to MTV showing the "Take It Away" video so often. RAM is my fave Macca album, but this one ranks closely behind. "The Pound Is Sinking", "Somebody Who Cares", "Ballroom Dancing" and the title track are excellent, and "Take It Away" remains an all-time favorite. This pressing sounds nice, George Martin's production is warm and full, with good range from top to bottom and a spacious, immersive soundstage. My copy plays cleanly throughout, with almost no surface noise.

Now that I bought it again, I own the original pressing and now this 2015 remix released in 2017. One of the reasons why I got rid of my original 1982 pressing and 1993 CD was that I hated the SOUND more than I hated some of the songs. Listening to this new remix gives me mixed feelings. On one side I appreciate the clarity and punchiness of the remix. On the other hand, their work is hampered by the original digital recordings of the tracks. The original 1982 pressing says "This album was mixed digitally
Recorded in Montserrat and England", but there is no such statement on the remix. I find myself enjoying this new version, though.

personally i like the 60's and 70's Macca more, but this is a good album. I have a VG+ /NM copy, this press sounds amazing! really good job
