This release compiles White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity and Love Of Life as indicated by the title. Also included is an additional compilation CD featuring studio recordings and live tracks tracks culled from Ten Songs For Another World, Omniscience, Anonymous Bodies In An Empty Room, Celebrity Lifestyle · Mother / Father and Love Of Life / Amnesia, as well as some archival material.
The vinyl versions of this compilation mimics the original limited edition boxed version of Love Of Life, but was sold containing both albums (as well as several extras). The included pressings were also made available as stand alone vinyl releases at the same time.
The reissue versions of White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity all contain the extra track "Blind", recorded during the same sessions but left out of the original album (it was however included on Michael Gira's solo album Drainland as well as on the Various Failures 1988-1992 comp.) - Love Of Life however still only includes "No Cure For The Lonely" on the CD versions.
The CD versions of White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity appears to swap some tracks for the versions previously included on Various Failures 1988-1992.

Bought a mint copy with still sealed albums. Every side has a lot of small crackles like surface hairlines but nohting visible. It is mainly audible in the quieter parts.

Great set. Great sound quality. Two thing lacking: a) the bonus content is only avaliable in CD format. Hoped that the rareties would have been pressed on wax too, but well nevermind. b) I read that the original version of the box was laminated (like Joy Divisions "Unknown Pleasure" LP) instead of glossy. Would have prefered the laminated print instead of glossy (which always keeps fingerprints) - mostly for visual reasons and authenticity.

This should have been the ultimate issue of two classic Swans albums, with the inclusion of the beautiful track "Blind" which was left out on the original release of White Light.
Disappointingly however, for some unfathomable reason, several tracks on the White Light disc are not the original versions, but rather the (imho) inferior versions off the "Various Failures" compilation. I would recommend getting the originals instead.

both records are nicely pressed. white light 100% quiet, love of life 90% quiet (some surface noise in between tracks). sound is really good, although I found no significant difference from the cd reissue. I own an original copy of Love of life LP and differences in mastering are subtle, this is very close to the original.. cover is not glossy like the original but the picture is good quality. the posters are lovely..
"why are we alive" is longer and with different ending than the original version. "blind" is great.

The bonus cd is a complete delusion, All songs besides "the Unknown" have been already released on official swans cd. The only exception is the "The unknown" which come from the cd "Live in Haltern 039" (recorded june 1988, soundboard recording) available on Jarboe web page.
Other live songs are Mother’s Milk and Amnesia (Live) from Omniscience, Blood On Your Hands and A Young Girl Needs (Excerpt) from Anonymous Bobies in an Empty Room.
PS. Most of the other songs (all studio recordings allready available on other swans official releases) have been edited and are shorter than the originals.
