Neutral Milk Hotel – In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

I can't figure out my version...the cover has a dark bias and definitely not blue. I have an artist and barcode label (without mergerecords.com.) The labels are like a cross between the 3rd/4th and later versions in that the color is like the earlier but the placement of the Victrola is like the later. So, dark bias cover...labels the shade of 3rd/4th but placement of 5th/6th.

It's ultra quiet and clear. Packaging is also very nice.

Total success, the vinyl is totally quiet, has a nice beefy low end and handles the originally super compressed recording as well as you can hope for. Especially since I see these sell for under $20 all day, it's worth picking up a copy.

The sound of my pressing is great! Very little surface noise and very dynamic. Only downside is that side B is significantly warped. But, it doesn't affect play. This was super cheap so I cannot complain!

Well produced, vigorous folk punk with hints of REM throughout.

Sounds great on my system (AT-LP120 + Audiotechnica Speakers)... slightest wobble on side B...recommended pressing... cheap but nice (far from nasty)

Pretty good sound but it really comes alive when you crank it up, songs like KOCF Pt 2&3 really blow up in a great way

Purchased from Amazon for about $15 not expecting much in terms of sound quality and packaging, but wanted a vinyl copy because of the music and it’s stature as a classic in the indie rock genre. Quite frankly, I was blown away by both the quality of the gatefold jacket and sound of the vinyl record. The jacket was sturdy (definitely not Staunton-level, but better than other bigger named releases and certainly better than what I figured $15 would get me). The record came in a nice anti-static inner sleeve and after a quick spin clean, sounded virtually silent, allowing the balanced sound and well mastered mix to fill my room. For price paid, this is one of the best sounding non-audiophile records I have in my collection. If you can get it for less than $20, it’s a no-brainer purchase. Highly recommended.

Is the sound quality of this pressing much of an upgrade over any of the reissues or is this more of a collector's item?

This old cut by Geoff Sykes packs a little bit more low end punch than the 2015 re-cut by John Golden, so that's pretty much it.
