Blur ‎– Popscene

Genre:

Notes:
Arguably the first Brit Pop single released by any group, "Popscene" was Blur's bold statement to the world, a musical assertion that they would no longer be content to conform to the prevailing styles of the day but instead forge purposefully in their own direction. A speedy blast of semi-Mod horns and art-punk bombast, the single remains a fan favorite despite the fact that it charted poorly when first released. Blur subsequently refused to put the single on the UK version of their second album, "Modern Life Is Rubbish", feeling that if the UK fans didn't want it the first time around, they weren't going to get it on the album, either. It was, however, included on the US version of the album. The Brit Pop era begins here.
