I'd love a decent, legally-cleared reissue of this to be available in the UK - this doesn't seem to be it.

Prensagem totalmente decepcionante. É um disco considerado bem gravado, então esperava algo impecável.

A remasterização não está boa. Os sons estão sem brilho, mesmo puxando os agudos. A prensagem da Poly Som, como sempre, apresenta ruídos de fundo bastante sérios. Cheio de estalos de sujeira na prensagem. Uma coisa bizarra. Como a Universal aceita isso?

A arte da capa está abaixo da crítica. Muito escura. Totalmente inaceitável. Qualquer produtor gráfico teria recusado essa impressão.

O que mais me incomoda nessas versões brasileiras é que eles cobram o mesmo valor de boas prensagens estrangeiras mas entregam um produto que não é bom. Se é para ouvir vinil, o som precisa estar impecável, melhor que o digital. E isso não tem acontecido com os clássicos brasileiros. Sinceramente, preferia pagar um pouco mais e ter a certeza de que estará bom.

A impressão que tenho é que eles fazem um disco 180gr e com gatefold e acham que as pessoas vão adorar. Não importa que o disco esteja mal prensado, mal remasterizado, e com uma impressão horrível da capa... Com a explosão do mercado de vinil, seria legal que as empresas relançassem os clássicos com mais seriedade.

Eu comprei em Maio/24 e sinceramente fiquei bem decepcionado. Em relação a qualidade da capa, as cores da arte estão bem diferentes do original, a foto do Tom & Elis está bem escura, ficou algo bem tosco. A parte interna do gatefold não está diferente, imagens escuras, e as cores da arte bem diferentes. Já a contracapa por incrível que pareça está o mais próximo do original. O disco chegou levemente empenado e extremamente sujo, algumas partes com marcas visiveis de gordura dos dedos, e com grande acúmulo de pó. Uma dica para quem quer comprar esse álbum, procure um original de época ou até mesmo uma reedição dos anos 1980. Se a cópia estiver em bom estado valera a pena. Essa reedição de 2019 não vale a pena.

Não sei por que esse disco tem um valor tão alto nesse site. Comprei por 120 reais numa promoção no mercado livre da Universal Music.

50 years next year, hopefully a remastered pressing will be released, this masterpiece deserves it.

Yeah, there legends and they're amazingly talented. Now can someone please tell me if they have this pressing and if its good. I have a pressing from '74 from Argentina that uses mediocre vinyl, at least I think that's the problem. If you just want to complement how amazing someone is please go to allmusic.com. Yes, the Beatles are amazing. The Rolling Stones are amazing. I am looking to get the best pressing of this album. That's why most people come here, to be the best vinyl copy of a record. And did someone just say "Elis was the Amy Winehouse of Brazil"? I love Amy Winehouse but Elis was a much bigger figure who did a lot more recordings.

How is the sonic qualities of this first pressing masterpiece?

This Japanese pressing of “Elis & Tom In L.A.” is the only version of this album with “In L.A.” as part of the title, it’s also the only record that made me forever thankful to have a pair of fully functional ears. I know that’s kind of a silly statement to start with, so instead I’ll tell you that I’ve listened to this album on CD and on streaming, and I was only impressed by the melody, but what comes through on this particular vinyl pressing is something that wasn’t accessible in those other formats, a totally 3 dimensional performance which is both magical and sensual in the use of color, space, invention and mood. What is also revealed is the care in capturing each instrument. The session must have been an outstanding recording on it’s own, with what appears to be a hot mic juicing of the whole of each instrument, allowing for one of the most lucid yet dreamy mixes I’ve ever heard. There are parts that swept me away just because of the mix. The mastering is obviously stellar and can easily live next to many of the greatest cuts on vinyl. The only wrinkle is the vinyl itself… it has a little bit of surface noise (which I don’t mind), but if someone is thinking of making a killer reissue (and this album must always be reissued) please find the most silent vinyl to press it on — please. There is another aspect I must point out, this is also the most dynamic Japanese vinyl pressing I’ve listened to so far, highly detailed, playing in your living room 3D sound stage, and a playback range with deep black drop dead lows and such a high ceiling that it’s scary. All in all this is a truly wonderful masterpiece. If this version is the only one that you find—get it—and don’t let it go!
