I'm pretty sure I purchased my first pressing at Quintessence Records on 4th Avenue.I confess I was motivated by the sheer shock value of seeing Maggie's pussy so prominently displayed. Technically this is NOT a bootleg (I was D.O.A.'s manager for 15 years, and so know the story). The band did not have any money, and pressed the first 1,000 (uncensored) cover, prior to their 1st USA tour. They sold out, and pressed 1,000 more when they returned to Vancouver (censored cover). They then went back on tour; however the owner of the record label had a drug problem, and covertly pressed an additional 1,000 while the band was away; using a photocopy of the artwork rather than the original art (thus the blurriness). The band was very unhappy when they found out, and ended their relationship with Friends records.
There is only a total of 3,000 of these records made. The first 1,000 are the hardest to find, as the band sold them all 'on the road', so they never received record store distribution.
