Sonic Youth – Sonic Nurse

Very good pressing overall. Good sound in all registers I like it. Low surface noise. So the pressing is actually superb! And comes with poly inner sleeves. The reason I give it 3 stars is not because of the pressing but of the album itself. I am very critical and only top albums with no fillers get 5 stars... a very very good album a give 4 stars... and a good album with some fillers I give 3 stars. For me this album has 2 or 3 real good songs and some songs for the moment I like less... maybe it will grow to become a 4 star album after playing it more...

Some of these must not have come with download card or”hype sticker”. I’m sure the download cards expired an I really don’t care about that, but I got a copy that was sealed with no download card or “mastered from original analogue” sticker. Bar code and runouts do match up.

Definitely one of their best albums and this is a high quality pressing, no issues on my copy at all sound wise, just a very minor warp which doesn't effect play. So many great tracks here, but 'Stones' is my personal favourite, such a great riff..

Just noticed "Happy Jack" printed on the cassette at the end of Side One! Extra track, or just a misprint?

My copy has side 3 labels on both side 3 and 4.

Sounds really nice. Excellent clarity and definition. Nice rich tones and full sound. Balanced very well, vocals sit well in the mix. Details come through. Drums are punchy. Mastered really well and sounds great. Quiet pressing, flat and centered.

Out of all the recent sonic youth reissues, I think this one and Murray st. sound the best.

I was skeptical of buying this european pressing. I had read that the American SY reissues were more reliable as they were pressed at QRP. In the end I chose this issue 'cause it was cheaper. Fortunately it was a good decision. The records came in poly-lined inner sleeves with no audible or visual defects. The image on the cover is of great resolution. I am very happy to finally listen to this album with its proper sound. On the original geffen CD the audio was very compressed. The sound on this reissue is alive and dynamic without any obtrusive noise. When I first heard this album back in 2004 I wasn't very hooked on it, but it slowly grew on me with time and now I can say it's one of my favorites from SY. Great record!

Why is the LP version showing up as the first release in alphabetical order in everyone's collection? What was wrong with the original entry that someone felt the need to change it? It was in the correct order before someone went and changed whatever they changed. Quit messing up everyone's collection.
