- Edited one year agoGreat track, but the A side has a weird pressing quirk. Starting at the break about 9 minutes in, (and especially at 12 minutes in), the track keeps losing volume until it's much quieter by the outro. The BPM also starts to drift after this, however the break allows for a good transition, so it's still DJ-able. These issues don't appear on the CD single version.
- It seems some mixes play slower here, due to a sample rate issue. If you extract the track, and import it as raw data but with 48khz sample rate, it will play at the correct speed.
Tracks 3, 4 are affected. The rest of the tracks seem to be at the correct speed. - This was one of those remix singles that shaped how I viewed remixes. The 15+ minute Javelin Mix was an epic journey, even if it took forever to get to the chorus. The Andy Ling one felt like a militaristic little slice of hard dance. Angel's Garage Dub floated through the ether, while the Blame D&B remake was very stellar indeed! Pure magic for me, this one was!
- The previous reviewer pretty much hits the nail on the head. Forget the rest and head straight to the Angel Moraes Garage Dub. I wouldn't call it dark especially, more hypnotic, deep and moody - with that heavy bass-line underpinning the simple hook-line. I first heard this as the opening track on John Digweed's "The Winning Ticket" mix back in '97 and knew I had to track down an unmixed copy. One of those tunes you always remember.
- Edited 17 years agoI own this single mainly for the unedited Angel Moraes version. Usually, it's played a little bit slower (as it appeared on the Sm:)e CD-Single). The track starts with a melodic loop that is replayed constantly for about 10 minutes, with the only vocals "And Then The Rain Falls". It's probably one of the darkest track I have heard in my life. It's like everything's been destroyed around you in an atomic war, and just when you think this is the worst thing that have ever happened: "... The Rain Falls..." I find it interesting under this point of view, and rather sarcastic.
The Radio and Javelin mixes are very average stuff in my point of view. Nothing very special. The Blame remix is an Ambient/Drum 'N' Bass version with not much vocals. Can be played as background music. 3/5
