Carly Simon – Anticipation

The cutting engineer on this version is Terry Dunavan (TD) as indicated by the etching in the run out. It seems to have been (re)cut on May 5 1976, replacing the Sterling cut from 1971. It’s a very nice sounding cut and cheap too.

Carly is great, another fabulous songwriter up there with Joni, Laura Nyro and Carole King.

All ridiculously talented and strong women who forged their own idiosyncratic pathways, navigated a predominantly male medium but made it on their own merits.

Honestly with such a great variety of music from all of them you can pretty much dive in where you want to and pull out diamonds.

Carly Simon’s “Anticipation” is a well crafted and beautifully executed collection of soft rock material. Carly has seen her fair share of success over the years, her most formative years being the 1970’s and early 1980’s. I feel her best work was her early work, notably her first three albums “Carly Simon”, “Anticipation”, and “No Secrets”, all of the mentioned albums are solid no fill releases. “Anticipation hit #30 on the US charts and earned Carly her first Gold Album. The engineering on this album is nearly flawless, the sound is buttery warm, and smooth. Many of the early singer-song writer have fallen by the wayside, Carly is no exception. It’s truly a shame that so many people will overlook these early albums.

It's an enjoyable album. Only one real big hit on it - the title song.

One of the best analogue records in my collection! Clear, natural, dynamic and beautiful. For it's price today every audiophile should buy this wonderful album.
