Even Holger working at half-strength is approx 10 times better than most other artists at full stretch. This is a great album which kicks off with the most accesible thing here - the single The Photo Song which is great fun, very catchy and extremely well-recorded, like all his stuff.
After that Holger goes for a bit of an experimental burn-out with a lot of free-collage work, strange brass arrangements, sampled vocals and even a version of the 1960s Chinese national anthem The East Is Red. This track in particular is a nod back to his old teacher and mentor Karlheinz Stockhausen who famously destroyed several national anthems on his notorious Hymnen album.
Take a look at the credits for this album anyway - you can see the kind of strange and eclectic territory we are in.
I like this album a lot, bears repeated listening. Goes well with On The Way To The Peak Of Normal and the follow-up to this one 'Rome Remains Rome'.
