The front sleeve lists "Cold, Dark and Yesterday" as also being on the b-side, but only the dub version of "Out of Touch" is on it.

Does anyone else have an issue with Side 1 - Out of Touch (Remix)? Seems like it wasn't mastered at the proper speed. So at either 33 or 45 speed the pitch is totally off making it sound either too slow or too fast than what it really should sound like. I guess it makes this pressing a bit more unique, but do pressings from other country's have the same issue? Side 2 sounds totally fine though.

It is likely that no one has ever made it thru the entire dub version, one of Arthur Baker's worst pieces of bombast. Which is a shame because he did such a great job on the extended version here (side one) and the video version, which itself never made it onto an official release.

"Cold Dark and Yesterday" is a great track. I didn't care for it that much when it came out; it screams 1984. But it's dated pretty well. Its mood and textures with its minor chords recall the title track from Heartbeat City by the Cars, another minor-key gem.

The flipside of this is one of the best thing's Arthur Baker has ever done, essential being a Breaker's Revenge part 2, with the same beats and bassline (and likewise this was edited by the Latin Rascals) but dropping the jazzy keyboards and concentrating on chopping that heavy beat up over and over again with Lisa Lisa-ish, Dog-ish and James Brown-ish samples popping into the mix. The result is a very very tough dub mix! Not too sure where DH+JO are though!?!

It amazes me that this is still a secret weapon 20 years on, and easy to turn up in the bargain bin! You can also turn it up on the b-side of the US release of Possession Obsession.

Interestingly, this song is the song David Armstrong chose to cover for his follow up to the monster "Make Your Move." For his cover of "Out Of Touch" he changed the title to another lyric in the chorus - "Out Of Time" much as he did with changing the title of the Pointer Sisters' "Dare Me" to "Make Your Move." For his cover of this old Hall & Oates hit, though he's recruited a female vocalist, Ingrid Hakanson, for both Daryl Hall's and John Oates' co-lead vocals. Should be interesting to see if it outsells H&O's original version - Armstrong and Hakanson have an uphill battle to do that as Hall & Oates original went to #1 in the US (top 40) and top 5 on U.S. R&B charts... and was certified gold to boot. Tough battle but Armstrong et al have one hell of a lead in to do it... and I'm sure Hall & Oates won't mind the renewed attention -- or the royalties! :)
