Schoolkids Records first opened in 1974 in Raleigh, NC, across the street from NC State University. Since then, the store has expanded, contracted and expanded again over 48+ years. We have two stores to serve you. One in Raleigh in the legendary Mission Valley Shopping Center (NCSU) and one near The University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill). Yes, basketball season is fun around here! Both locations have bars and serve over a dozen beers on tap, from both local breweries to PBR. We have regular performances and a full PA. Schoolkids Records is also a fully functioning international record label with offices in North Carolina and Dublin, Ireland. In 2022 Schoolkids announced that its sister company, Tiny Comet Artists was launched with is a booking agency based in Ireland that offers Artists Label Services.
Schoolkids is also a founding member of the CIMS Coalition, The first national Coalition of Independent Music Stores.
