The album slaps, of course, but what's the deal with all the forced crackle and grain on No Love? Seriously, what is that adding?

disgusting, repetitive "images" of old heroes like Billie Holliday and old soul music .. I know I should not write this, but how can one find it "cool" to buy a vinyl with artificial "vinyl scratches" on???? I'm too old for this, as it is far from good old 70ties Soul... sorry, I'm from another music planet

Has anybody made an experience with the back to black series from 2016?? Is that an acceptable one or not? Everybody hating those back to black series but I must say I have about 6,7 of them and they are all allright except ons skips a skip at theTHX - Intro from Dr. Dre's '2001'. The rest is absolutely ok. Not the best of my collection but also not that bad as always told..And I only got the chance to get this as a 2LP, 180 gram gatefold, downloadcode from the series. THANKS!!!

On Baduism Eryka Badu is Billie Holiday, Gill Scott Heron and Stevie Wonder rolled into one. Badu's conscientious lyrics and Holidayesque vocals over the funky bass of Ron Carter backed by subtle keyboards and horns, add up to what was a seminal album. "Drama" is my highlight, I nearly wore this out - All hail the Queen of Neo Soul. Yes there had been music with a similar feel: D'Angelo's "Brown Sugar" and Maxwell's "Urban Hang Suite" in the preceding years, and before that Guru had used Donald Byrd among others on Jazzmatazz, and A Tribe Called Quest had a jazz thing going on before that, using Ron Carter themselves. You could even say Sade was Neo Soul - this just has a Bohemian edge that makes it different and original. One of the greatest début albums of all time.
