A classic album and a fine pressing. Has some great, great instrumental blues rock infused tracks on here.

My copy is the strangest thing. Has Light blue label as this mono press, however label say s-701 like the stereo press. Jacket says 701 on front like mono press. Dead wax side 1: STX- 11932-D AT z W

      Side 2 runout: STX- 11931- D AT Z W

Anyone notice how "sportin life" by the Beacon Street Union is just the song "A Woman, A Lover, A Friend, with vocals for the organ melody?

You can indeed hear how a great number of 60s rock formations were influenced by the instrumentation and sound of this album, but its significance can't hide the fact that it sounds rushed and sometimes very weak. Stax was in its infancy and was - understandably - eager to cash in on the unexpected succes of the 'Green Onions' single, the album format was in its infancy too. If you love 'Green Onions' this is worth the purchase, if you only mildly like 'Green Onions' get it on a compilation or get the single...
