Fairly new to Surgeon...I h ad bought a few Surgeon records over the last year (Force + Form, Balance & Basictonalvocabulary) and haven't like *any of them*, just didn't get into them *at all*. But this one does it for me. Every single track on here is top-notch. These tracks have a much darker feel than the ones I've heard. The distortion is used well and those kicks are really well crafted, they sound especially good with a good pair of headphones or on a good home stereo. And the parts of each song have a lot of variation, there's a lot going on if you listen closely, really impressive. I'll have to do some research and see if I can find more like this. This is a great record, I am really enjoying this one!

Surgeon is one of the finest that have ever participated in this game called techno. Purchased my first record of his 20 years ago, and have since completed the entire catalog, physical copies.
in 1997, "Basictonalvocabulary" was the realest stuff on the market, and in 2017, it was "Convenience Trap".

His catalog is riddled with classics. The list of producers who have not sacrificed anything for quality and who have been constantly and uninterruptedly dropping gems for well over two decades now?
Very short. James Ruskin, Luke Slater, Mike Banks and a few others.

Not there are great artists in circulation, but I really want to see how many of them will l mention ten years from now. His name is always recommended to all newcomers when they want to go through the "musts" of the genre. I am yet to receive negative feedback. Enjoy.

Excellent EP of classic Surgeon techno. The whole EP is solid but "Pt. 4" is what really does it for me; distorted, industrial type breakbeat with leftfield ethnic type flute sample that really morphs into some dark dissonance as the track progresses. Recommended.
