- My copy doesn't sound too bad: it's not perfect but it's not awful by any means. Just a few minor crackles, especially on track B4 because it's the quietest one. My major gripe is that the sleeve looks blurry, almost like a cheap bootleg printed from a low res file: it probably was an artistic choice but it just looks poor imo. By the way, if you're reading this you already know that the album itself is simply stunning.
- I have a black vinyl copy of the LP which is signed by the band in gold and silver pens! Anyone else have one? Any ideas?
- This record is a phenomenal comeback! it just oozes classic Slowdive, it starts with the beautiful track Slomo, which really sets the tone for the rest of the record with this spacy ambiance. Then Slomo fires right into Star roving, which has a classic shoe-gaze sound and has a lot of energy. The rest of the record flows great as well. The silver pressing is also pretty good, few little crackles and pops, but it is manageable. 5/5
- Edited 6 years agoI have the Silver version of this album. I always vacuum clean my records prior to playing (even new ones). Surface noise is minimal, and there are no pops. However on some tracks I get a weird distortion usually in the left channel. The distortion was most concerning because its unnatural sounding ... I thought the distortion was because of my turntable setup, but my system is carefully configured (tracking force etc) and I double checked everything to be sure. It happens in the same areas on the record and I have no issues with other records in my collection. Its apparent there were some quality issues. Always go black vinyl if you want quality. Amazing album otherwise though!!
- Mine sounds fantastic as well (the center hole was a bit small). Got it at their US tour a year ago.
- My copy is really nice. No surface noise (except for a little bit at the end of Star Roving), and the mastering is really dynamic
- Edited 7 years agoManaged to widen the holes enough to fit it on a turntable, and used the VinylFlat to remove the warps, but there is a LOT of surface noise between tracks. :(
- I can't even play my copy; the centre hole is too small for any of my three turntables! It's also visibly warped (I can fix that with my VinylFlat, which usually does a great job reducing warps).
- Mine is perfect, clean, and louder than the Japanese blue wax. No surface noise even in the quiet passages.
- My copy sounds fine. There is some slight surface noise audible at times (for example during the intro of Sugar for the pill), but nothing too bad.
