    "Lsd... I remember.."

It's a snippet from a scene of the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Which is an awesome movie by itself, but more because its a long vague trip which makes it good. The same thing goes for this EP in my opinion. High Quality tripping that, for most people I think, has to be understood to be fully enjoyed.

This is an odd release we got here, at least in my book. In a nutshell, it has everything a seasoned techno listener finds repulsive. Overblown, block rocking beats, reminiscent of those dull, hollow Dutch hardcore productions from the nineties. Boisterous bass lines that are so thumping you wonder do they even have a point apart from an idiosyncratic overkill.
Overemphasized old school rave touches that are more dramatization than necessary ingredients.
Samples that anyone who has been into electronic music for more than five years loathes with the intensity of five Mount Vesuvius' engulfed in thick smoke. You know, vocals mentioning "LSD", "Detroit", "the human mind". The creme de la creme of cliches.

What makes it odd is that it all actually works wonders. This record slaughters dance podiums and their visitors on so many levels I can hardly convey the emotions it evokes into words. Despite the fact that the most original feature of this release is its cover, it is irresistibly persistent, constantly and recklessly energetic throughout.
What really impresses me here is that its maker decided to use whatever might sound good, regardless of how awkward it may look on paper, and without being bothered about an outsider's thought patterns. You wanna let it rock you, fine. You wanna shake your temple in disbelief, go ahead and shake. Your head will be nodding to this in one way let alone the other. It is precisely this, for the lack of a better terms, heedless approach to production that is the four tracker's greatest strength.

What it lacks in originality, it more than makes up for in being ridiculously tongue in cheek. I mean, who in their mind would drop a hopelessly nostalgic techno release, built on heavily ravish hovering spheres, resonating hardcore drum kicks and then top it all off with samples about LSD and the human mind? The human mind. This release is for everything but the human mind. But Remco Beekwilder drops that release. Carnal, primitive and absolutely instinctual. It does not aim at gradual digestion, repeated listening or thorough analysis in order to shine through. It aims at instant physical reaction and that is what you'll be doing - involuntarily reacting - as soon as any of these monstrous tunes get dropped.

If I was someone else, and was asked to recommend some new music to myself, I would never think of adding this record to that list. Yet here I am giving it rave reviews. This release is everything you would love to hate, but it makes you gleefully move. It has everything you steer clear of done just right. It has trite samples turned into crowd moving weapons.
Determination prevailing over innovation. Feeling over reason.
The only other release in recent memory that shamelessly hits as hard is ABSL's ridiculous banger A Double Tranchant .
Cherish this where it needs to be worshiped. on the dance floor. Favorite tune is Rave Mood. Any time all the time.

One of the biggest EP's in Techno of 2017. Nice to see another banger from R Beekwilder!

This one will soon become a classic!
Dark hard raving sounds at its best, love mixing A1, B1& B2
Keep going on like that Remco, we want more track from you :)
