A solid sound and better than average songwriting. Would get a higher rating if not for the artificial string machine and the mix is too timid on the bottom end.

Great stuff, a lot of fun. Nice cover of Takin it to the Streets.

This album is the perfect mix of smooth soul and hard funk. Babyface's work on this record is minimal at best, giving little sign of his future sound and success. Instead, you get an album that's similar to contemporaries like Slave, Pleasure, the Bar-Kays, etc. Definitely not your average run-of-the-mill funk, this baby cooks, even on the (admittedly)weaker songs. Go out and get it, NOW.

Heard this for the very first time tonight. Good old ChiSound! This is truly a beautiful record. Named just right, as this carries both lovely, sweet and jazzy soulvibes and fierce, rockin' blasts of funk in good proportions.
