Kraftwerk – 3-D (The Catalogue)

Not the cleanest pressing, with many pops and clicks over the different records. No Quality Control?

Most of the collection the records play nice and silent where they should be with only the occasional click or pop. Very disappointed with the copy of Autobahn in my copy as it looks like a skating ring and sounds like someone is eating a packet of crisps (my copy was factory sealed not second hand) and by coincidence Autobahn on The Mix disc 7 is also scuffed and scratched. Having saved up the high price to get a mint sealed copy it’s a huge a disappointment that the quality control was so poor.

This is a phenomenal reimagining of the 'classic' Kraftwerk albums. The highlight is probably the new mixing and composition of Radioactivity, but with the vast majority of the songs, the new mixes sound very true to the original form with a new breath of modern production. I can't imagine how much sampling they had to do to retain many of the original sounds within this new mix. The artwork is so simple and while it would have been nice to have a book with it, it is still a very pleasing box set. As others have mentioned, some of the repetition in the original tracks have been mixed out (most notably Autobahn and Computerworld) but overall it's a really neat return to the originals.

I quite enjoy this box set. For me the highlight is no doubt the new Radioactivity track. I also really dig the new versions of Man Machine and Computer World, they don't beat the originals but still fun to listen to.

Beautiful printing overall and nice (but very digital) sounding records. My only issue: does anyone really prefer these remixes to the originals? Feel the box goes unused for long stretches because I just prefer to listen to the original LPs. So recommended for collectors or completists only on this one.

Has anybody else noticed a problem with Computer World being printed with the labels on each side being mixed up? I definitely have Pocket Calculator on the side that says it's Numbers-Home Computer and I definitely have Home Computer on the other side. Or are these not supposed to show the songs on that side when you're looking at that side?

Even after research it was not clear to me if this version is different to "Der Katalog".
Since I have both 9xLp Vinyl Boxes"The Catalogue" and "Der Katalog" I know they are different according to the track listing.
For instance: On The Catalogue: "the model" + "the robots" + "computer love" etc are all english spoken. In fact different recordings compared to Der Katalog: Das Model + Die Roboter + Computerliebe are all german spoken.

Absolutely lovely box set which due to pre ordering on Amazon on Day 1 i managed to get for a lot less than it is now. Pretty good packaging. The sound is fantastic (only listened to the first 3 so far) but as usual, with EVERY SINGLE VINYL released by anyone these days there are a few crackles and static areas. How can brand new records be static/crackily? Apart from the fact they are pressed as cheaply as possible. Oh wait, that's the answer.
My three gripes are
1. Their continued disregard for the first 2 (3 if you count F&S) LPs. Rucksack is amazing and could do (to an extent) with a re recording at the very least.
2. Although overall the packaging is fantastic there is NO INFORMATION about where and when any of the tracks were recorded. My understanding was each LP was recorded at a different concert but i would like to know WHICH BLOODY ONES thank you. It mentions venues on the back but that's no use really. Bit lazy or are they trying to be their usual minimalist selves..
3. NO BOOKLET. I think after paying more for the vinyl the least they could do is give you a sodding booklet too.
