- This is the best thing I own. Nothing will ever beat this. If I had to choose between the rest of my collection, and this, I'd choose this. Hyper Light Drifter 4xLP boxset, I love you.
- Just the best. A beautiful set in every way. I was so convinced this would disappoint in some little way but i just love the attention to detail. Well done .
- Edited 4 years agoMuch love in this. Fantastic analog sounds on this LP issue, well-deserved by the source material. Such moving and atmospheric compositions from the often-mesmerizingly beautiful game gave it some measure of its striking and otherworldly mood. That magic rings through stronger than ever on this edition.
- Very beautiful set, the colored vinyl exceeded my expectations by a mile (the blue sides C and D look stunning on a black turntable). As far as sound itself goes A and B had a bit of surface noise although nothing I would complain about, after cleaning with some water and a brush it seemed to clear everything else up.
I wish they sold the 4LPs separate from the box only so more people could hear the unique sounds on here without shelling close to 100 bucks after shipping. Then again there is no reason you couldn't search the OST on Youtube for that matter.
If you are on the fence let me tell you I have no regrets after listening to the whole album, well worth the price. The album is sitting on the center of my mantle so I can look at it when I don't have money for food - So after contemplating for months I caved in and purchased the soundtrack in this wonderful vinyl edition, and boy has Iam8bit delivered with this release.
A beautiful package with magnetic flaps opens to reveal a box, which houses 4 translucent vinyls (each in their own color, which all go with the art style of the game) in anti-static sleeves as well as three HLD stickers.
The pressing is very nice, little to no surface noise, all vinyls are plane and have a nice heavy feel to them.
The music by Disasterpeace is amazing, and ranges from weird, industrial soundscapes to sparse melodic piano phrases, atmospheric chiptune tracks and back, and if you've played the game, it'll take you right back to the adventure, always keeping that mystery vibe of not knowing what's really going on. Excellent stuff.
The only minor complaint for me would be that there is no inlay of any sort, I would have appreciated it a luxurious release like that had a booklet with some infos, interviews, gear listings or whatever, that would have made it perfect.
But, it is what it is, and that's already one heck of a release that you should get if you fancy video game soundtracks or good electronic music in general. - While the box might seem a little overkill for 4LPs it does look really nice, but the real treat is the records themselves, which sound fantastic. Probably one of the best ever pressings from iam8bit.
And of course the soundtrack itself by Disasterpeace is absolutely spectacular as well. One of the best game OSTs from 2016.
