Reviews
- For me, this album is a great companion piece to the great spiritual albums of the Coltrane legacy. Surprised this one does not go for more. Lovely recording sonically as well.
- Really like the recording and mixing of this by RVG. Given it's layered approach this could have become leaden, but everyone's voice is clear and distinct. All the players are excellent, but Mr. Jones is magnificent. The best of the post sale BN's I've heard.
- Edited one year agoI bought my copy in Japan, and it came with an OBI strip. Blue & white labels with blue lettering. 0598 on spine. Van Gelder matrix. OBI is dark blue with yellow/white print Stereo BNLA-006F. Yen 2,200. «McCoy Tyner - Extensions» Direct Import by Toshiba Corp.
- Edited 3 years agosuch a great record, the oryginal pressing is still relatively cheap and it sounds magnificent! ... wayne shorter with some great solos on soprano and tenor as well as gary bartz on alto... alice coltrane fits perfectly with her harp in 3 out 4 tracks and mccoy tyner is going new places with his compositions (to be continued on milestone later on). perfect drumming by elvin jones; there is even some flute and bells play here (the later on carters solo haha!) ...such a variety of sounds! this might be tyner's very own version of love supreme. way ahead of its time... if it was released now it would probably become a jazz album of the year, for some... any year.
