- When you hear that an artist is planning to release his next album, you are always wishing yourself it'll be at least as good as the last one. But sometimes it's definitely difficult to maintain the artistic level of the previous one if it was close to perfection. But don't worry... This time Nu NRG didn't fail. Oh, how could it be different? Nu NRG never failed, did they?
Sadly, it looks to be the last album released by both, Andrea and Giusseppe as some time ago they split. That's probably the main reason why we get a "tribute to"-looking album, as there is no new material in here. For me that's surely not a disadvantage, cause I'm still a big fan of their old productions from which many still stay unreleased as a full length singles.
Two Italian floorkillers delivered once again a perfect blend of energetic, uplifting and tech trance. Starting with "Intro" which blends just perfectly with it's follow-up, "Kosmosy", Andrea and Giusseppe are slowly building-up the climax. Nu NRG used to start their sets similarly in the past years, mostly in 2003 I think. Hit after hit. There's no space for weak singles in here, only real gems are welcome. Whatever your musical taste is, you just can't walk past "Butterfly" without any reaction. That flowing energy just tells you to move your feet and body, no excuses! With #9, "D-31", Nu NRG switch from more melodic, yet uplifting trance to more techier productions. If someone asks me to tell the weak sides, I will probably complain about putting the 2003 version of "Take Your Air" instead of 2001's Air Mix. Despite that, the 2003 hard trancer still kicks ass. "Natural Think" and "Be Rite Back" were featured on "Most Wanted" CD Singles. They are both quality tracks, but when you know that "Last Experience" , the most sought after Nu NRG production is coming, it just doesn't count. Gorgeous 2001 Original easily overcomes Otto's 2006 remix, undoubtedly. Just a perfect ending!
Some may whine about the selection of tracks as they are old, mostly well-known and overplayed, but I presume that for those, who are not that much into Nu NRG material, may hear - for example - "D-31" for the first time. Despite the fact that these tracks mostly come from 2001-2004 period, they still sound fresh and interesting. Others may whine about the fact that it's mixed. I'd love to have "Last Experience" in full length version, but when it's not possible, you have to be happy with what you have.
I personally love that album, hope you will love it, too.
