I one of the folk who puts this up with the first four albums, possibly even better. I just don’t get why this album isn’t more universally praised . Maybe it was too late to do this sort of thing when released but now fits in historically. It’s like Randy and the boys dropped some acid while listening to their favourite Dylan/Stones & Hendrix (The Leaves) and said we can do that….sort of.
Not only does it sound whacky but it shows Randy California’s guitar at his best. If you like the first four don’t dismiss this one without hearing it.

I went round to a friend's house back around 1977 and her sister was playing this record and I thought "this sounds good". It only took me about 30 years to get around to buying a copy. I think Victim Of Society is one of Spirit's best songs. The whole album is good though. I saw Spirit in 1978... wish I could remember more about it... but they were good.

Definitely not on the same level as the classic first four Spirit albums, but I actually find this album endearing. Randy had boogied to Hawai'i and when he returned to record with Ed he brought with it less of a jazzy Wes Montgomery feel and more of an organic, loose Hawaiian aspect to the guitar. Not a huge fan of the in between song banter, but it's a solid album. Just don't compare it to the first four records and enjoy it for what it is.

I bought this aged 14 when we visited my dad's war bride sisters in the USA.
I knew of Spirit but not sure why I chose this, that we were there in the autumn/fall of '76 may have had an influence.
I couldn't play it until I got home to the UK, I didn't get it...but there are certain albums that you don't get first listen that haunt you.
They can often become the most enduring. 44 years later I play it now as I write.
