Money Morning – Corporate Karma

Enchanting, hazy views of moss-covered alien rockforms; if you are into the unvarnished ambient haze of "tha", "blue calx", 154's "apricot" -> this is for you.

I'm finding a lot of these Acting Press releases just a tad overrated. All have a similar atmospheric vibe, sometimes tech, sometimes IDMish, ambient etc. It's good stuff. But very little builds into something very memorable. This EP is the same. I like it well enough when it's on, but can't remember any of it afterwards. The pads in Therah are just gorgeous in their soft ebbing, for example. But apart from the occasional sound and those hihats, not too much else happens in the track. And that applies to a lot of these EPs. Nice, but not super substantial. I find Specialivery's "Gravity Darkening" a lot more effective as "ambient space techno".
What I will say, though, out of many of these Acting Press EPs this one gets bonus points for eschewing the apparently By Law Requirement of no more than 4 tracks in an EP (12 minutes a side etc). Yeah noise, audio quality blah blah, but the structure of this EP with its shorter and longer tracks + locked grooves is _interesting_ just because it's not common on a single 12" techno record. Thumbs up.

A little bit too subtle, however A2 makes up for it. Melodies that sticks in your mind and an ambience that fills the heart. Unusual stuff in 2018.

Its almost as if A2 could have been taken from a lost Likemind/B12 EP. Astounding stuff. Superior music in the proper Acting Press vein.
