There are 2 versions available; a 10,000-unit metal tin edition, fashioned into a 'film-reel' style round with imprinted Metalheadz logo on front; and a regular boxed set which includes a pair of Metalheadz logo silver/black slipmats. Both versions include a 26-page booklet.

Reviews
- Edited 2 years agopvc inner sleeves are a cruel joke
I have mine re-homed to poly sleeves, playable but the damage is done
Digital - Far Out the cut for me. A2 also very nice and works in 140 sets - The drums on Warrior Jazz are reason enough to buy this. Yes, just for those drums alone. They hit harder than Tyson Fury's love handles.
- Edited 3 years agoDid anyone’s metal tin version actually come with the slip mats? I’ve never seen a single one. I remember when it came out and none of the copies at any store had the slip mats.
I’ve always thought it was a myth (I know the paper / non tin version came with them, but not this version)...
I’m in the USA tho, and never saw the UK release. But in the US, I never saw a single one come with the mats or the book. - Edited 4 years agoFor me Digital’s Far out is everything I’m looking for in DnB! Pure darkness! I’m sure you all have heard it but if not there’s a 12” Digital remix of Special mission and Far out, which are tuff remixes but very close to originals, plus a bit cheaper to grab if you like both tunes and haven’t got the paper to buy this set 👍🏻
- The Night Hunter, could this be the source for Doc Scott's The Swarm? https://www.discogs.com/Cyberdyne-Systems-Space-Warp/release/225644?ev=item-vc
- Anyone think the Photek track sounds more like it should be the 2nd track on the Dillinja side? That piano, the twisted up vocals, the bass, solid as f*ck 2step -- great track, just doesn't sound like the Ginger Ninja!
Mine are all cloudy by the way. Hasn't affected playback so far, but certainly good advice below - change out the pvc sleeves for paper asap! - More than 20 years later, how does this ambitious package hold up? (Gosh, there was a lot of money in music before file-sharing, by the way. Would this lush packaging for fairly underground artists even have been possible a few years later?)
Lots of quality here, as previous commentators have pointed out.
An overlooked aspect of this compilation is how it marks the beginning of the “broken beat” scene. In 1997, these Dollis Hill tracks were glimpses of Dego’s work to come (note that 2000 Black began at this moment in time, around 1998, as a sub label of Reinforced Records). Moreover, the Hidden Agenda track “Big Lamp” is a slept on mid-tempo funker that could easily blend with Maurice Fulton’s productions, for example, or with the downtempo stuff on Robert Hood - Nighttime World Volume 2.
Photek’s “Neptune” is one of the more solid downtempo offerings on the compilation, putting a sombre ending to the whole thing. Dillinja’s ultra compressed, uptempo “Warrior Jazz” is more fun, especially if you imagine the spoken words to be by The Spirit of Jazz from The Mighty Boosh! - The individual vinyl records are stored in PVC sleeves wich cause clouding to the records due to a chemical reaction between the vinyl and the PVC. To avoid this it's recommended to keep the vinyl records outside of the PVC sleeves (for example in paper sleeves).
