Anthony Braxton and 3 white dudes play Europe in early and late 2003.

Take your pick. Typical tune runs 10 to 15 minutes, you always get the melody, played straight for about a minute, Braxton goes for 5 minutes or so, variously on alto, soprano and sopranino, eventually going nuts, but always melodious, rarely skronky, over a rhythm section that comps like it's 1957. O'Neil gets his 5 minutes, immediately his lightly amp'd guitar catches your ear, you soon realize this is a guitar album, and not in a bad way. Eulau and Norton are in the pocket even when they're not.

    Rinse and repeat 22 times.

What a privilege to have been an audience member. What more can you ask of jazz improvisation?
