- I really hope this gets an Acoustic Sounds Series reissue. The recording is very sensitive to any pops or cracks but its a wonderfully spacious stereo pressing. The two long tracks, Raunchy Rita and Summertime are a blast, especially the latter which a sparse duet between Elvin’s drumming and Richard’s mournful bass. In the meanwhile I’d recommend a Japanese reissue as its usually pressed better than later US Impulse records.
i believe this is the only record Evlin Jones ever played guitar on!?
Stunning sounding pressing, quiet and flat, the piano and drums are vibrant and come out at you. Brilliant album.
Albert Ayler's version of "Summetime" is pretty awesome....and then you hear Elvin Jones' and Richard Davis' version found on this recording. Wow.
