So, which one is it: 4 or 5th pressing?
    Contradictory info here...

I recently got a copy of this pressing for free from a record store near me. The cover is beat to death, but the record plays beautifully save for one skip on “Chains”! This is by far the best-sounding copy of this album I’ve ever heard: the mono mix is very energetic compared to the stereo mix.

of course i can only speak to the nature of the pressing that i have. this is the most groovewear i have ever heard on a record before; perhaps a consequence of very extensive play on low grade equipment. it is seriously unlistenable, you actually can't hear any of the lyrics, just violently distorted sound that resembles the cadence of a voice slightly. this pressing is also cut very loud to my ears, i only have to turn the volume to about the 8 oclock position and its blasting.
either way, this is the record that started it all. to have an early UK mono pressing is still very exciting to me. its like holding a piece of history. (key word is holding since i do not picture myself ever listening to it ever again.)

Just cleaned my copy of this and put it on the turntable - track 1 blew me away. The sound quality on these early discs is astonishing. The group are so tight and up for it. You get a real sense of what the fuss was all about...
