- Since Samuel Kerrige has started. his offerings could be roughly divided into two styles: deeply dystopian. punk-influenced downtempo/ambient on one side, and rapid IDM with high attention to details, suspenseful break-stops and unpredictability of sound direction on the other. You could sense him gradually shifting towards the latter over the years, which arguably began with the last two tracks on Always Offended Never Ashamed and fully bloomed on Fatal Light Attraction.
To clarify, l was never a big admirer of his works—until I ran into The Silence Between Us that is, which made me reevaluate my taste and invest my interest into his past releases as well, which still didn't make me enjoy them much more I'm being honest, but the reason I'm bringing this up is to let you know how much of an impact this record had on me. It really peaks high, not only among his own works, but also in the whole realm of this type of production. Edgy, fast-paced, unpredictable, bewildering, a production created with silent love covered under the guise of cold lust.
