Reviews
- Woah Wind in Trees is just magic. Pacey, powerful, cosmic and positive. It's easy to discount Deepchord b/c of his sheer volume of output but sometimes its just perfect.
- Relaxing, somehow hypnotic and deep. Feels like exploring exotic/ancient Alexandria places during night. My favorite track in this Album is "Wind In Trees"
- Saw a pic of Auratone speakers today. Knowing that Rod often uses technical terms as monikers, I wonder if these speakers had something to do with the title.
- After over 15 years at the dub techno game, Deepchord pretty much has it down pat, and on AURATONES, Rod Modell switches from the cricket-filled atmospherics of “Fog Hotel” into the subtle groove of “Moving Lights,” as though they were part of the same breath. “Wind in Trees” goes deeper with the tones and the beat, but “Lagonda” returns to the lighter touch. This back and forth continues, as “Varanasi” takes some heavy stabs at reverb that echo into “Portofino,” which keeps the rhythm subsumed under thick layers of sound. “Point Reyes” is relatively cleaner, as it races down the tech-house track, right into “Underwater Galaxies.” “Roca 9” returns to ambient space to take a breather, and “Azure” stays nearly beatless, though with plenty of propulsion. “Devil Ray” adds some plucked strings for an additional textural quality to welcome back the kick drum, before “Signals” beams out on a shiny interstellar grooves. These aren’t just Deepchord’s tones, they’re our tones too.
- Postcards? What postcards? Must be kidding! I bought my exemplar just yesterday in Concerto record shop
on Amsterdam. It was sealed, i.e. not opened. But, postcards...were definitely there.
Not that I do need them, for postcards a person goes to a post office or a shop.
For the rest, a very good record: trance, ( minimal ) techno, some dub influences here & there.
Good mixture by all means, so please do not forget: this is about music and hardly anything else ! - Edited 7 years agoDear Soma,
Please ship your records in a decent record mailer, the ones that don't damage the corners (see Giegling). You guys are professionals and your packaging is pathetic. Record arrived with all 4 corners damaged, 2 of them severely, water damaged & with the cellophane ripped open. Why go through all the trouble of printing color vinyl & postcards in a great presentation, only to ruin it with a 2 cent piece of cardboard sent across the pond?
Sincerely,
Your Customers - CD is absolute fire just like Sommer, UltraViolet, Hash-Bar Loops. Same big deep, nasty sound, each track with its own unique little subtleties. I hope this man releases a new album every year for the rest of my life. My favorite artist in recent years by far.
