I would call this some of the most achingly beautiful music ever made, I'd put it in that playlist. The cover art is really nice and goes well with the vibe of the whole package. Pressing is OK. A little noisy here and there. Side 2 seems better on my copy. Tell me if I'm wrong but they list the first version on side 2 of Spiegel Im Spiegel as the version for piano and violin. The last track on side 2 is the one with the Cello. So not only did they spell it wrong but they listed the instruments wrong as well? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this but I'm pretty sure I'm right about this.

My copy is excellent flat quiet. Spell checks, equipment listing why? We are not impressed with perfectionism

Have two turntable setups, both using Puffin Phono DSP's. Technics 1700 with an audio-technica VM540ML, and get some pops, little bit of distortion, even after a wet cleaning of a new copy of this record ordered directly from Mississippi Records. Clean stylus with a little over 2 gram tracking force, then again with 1.8 grams. And this still grades B-/C+ with the Puffin's grading feature. Little distracting with such sparse, delicate music. Have other classical records (some Glen Gould playing Bach) that grade A/A+ with this Technics 1700 / VM540ML, used to confirm it was this pressing, not the Technics 1700 / VM540ML setup that's the issue.

But using a Technics SL-QD3 p-mount table with an audio-technica 3003 cart with a newish after market microline stylus and 1.25 grams tracking force per the T4P spec, and this pressing plays flawlessly. Graded A/A+ with the Puffin's grading feature. A lovely record, but apparently only plays perfectly with lighter tracking force.

There is a general typo on the back of the artwork: the piece is called "Spiegel im Spiegel" (means Mirror in mirror) but on the back it says "Speigel im Speigal" and "Speigel im Speigel". Honestly it's such a poor typo.. don't like this carelessness. Apart from any pressing quality or artwork this will forever be absolute contemporary pure good music. <3

Such a spiritual composer. A shame, then, that this is an atrocious pressing.

My version is an AWFUL pressing. Record grows more distorted from about 6-8 minutes into the record and gets worse as the record progresses. Unlistenable. Returning it to the record store tomorrow.

??? Definitely not the quietest record I own :)
This is amazing, magic music, I love Mississippi records and there is for once a propper mastering, but you have to deal with usual paper scuffs, bits of clicks and pops. Not huge, and some older records from them are a disaster in comparison, so there s some progress, but still... it's not the ideal music to listen on a DYI press...

The most quiet record I own so far. Very good pressing

Quality pressing, incredible finishing on the cover, not even gonna mention the music inside. Can't go wrong with this one
