Reviews
- Edited 3 months agoA very good remaster with big sound. The separation is good. On some tracks Stipe is a little washed out by the band. As others have noted, this is bass forward, but it is not a negative (like some 80s Mofi offerings). Reading other reviews, I got a bit lucky with the pressing - it was clean, flat, and scratch-free. Having listened to this album since it came out I am very happy to have this, especially at the reasonable price. Like many, if not most, new records these days, it sounds better after a cleaning.
- Guess I got bad luck with this pressing. Mine has loud pops all over the place but with no visible defects or scratches that explain them.
- Nice pressing overall, but mine came very dirty out of the package. After a deep wet clean, it sounds great. Some chips on the side of the vinyl as well. They don’t affect sound quality, but it seems like QC overall may be an issue …
- I got mine from amazon and the sticker says " the 1992 multi platinum album" where it should say "the 25th anniversary"?? ALSO there is no digital download? Did anyone else recieve a copy like this?
- This sounds so good it actually gave me goosebumps. Soundstage is wide, crisp, clean and warm sounding that invites you in to the front of the stage for more. Dynamics are fantastic as all the instruments and Michael’s voice sound amazing. My copy lays flat on the platter and after an excellent vacuum wet cleaning plays just about perfect, with only light ticks/pops occasionally. I cannot recommend it highly enough if you’re looking for a quality pressing of this album.
- So disappointed by this release. The mastering is excellent, but the pressing quality is terrible. My first copy came with a big scratch across the first three tracks of side A. Replaced it with a second copy that is badly dish warped and has another audible mark that pretty much ruins New Orleans Instrumental. Can someone please release a decent pressing of this album?!!
- This is the cleanest album I’ve ever heard. Dead flat. Dead quiet. Not an errant pop or click to be found.
- Great album, but a fair amount of static and surface noise in quieter parts for me, even after a good clean. Still glad to have it!
