How was it possible to get the copy of the original 1967 mix if the master tapes were deteriorated? Is it a production copy that was used or some other copy of the master tapes?

Why does it stated here that on the CD 2 there is a stereo mix from year 1972. I thought that in the 70s there was only 3 mixes:
    - 1967 original mix
    - 1972 quad mix
    - 1978 second stereo mix
