This record is incredible. I’ve been listening to it regularly for the last 20 years or so. I have this original American as well as the original British press. As a side note, I used to see Harold Budd almost every week without knowing who he was - I worked at a library in his neighborhood and he’d stop by to usually check out art and architecture magazines. I happened to see a picture of him with the Cocteau Twins towards the end of my time at the library and thought, “Holy shit! That’s Mr. Budd!” I never got the chance to interact with him knowing who he was as an artist/musician. He’ll always be Mr. Budd to me. RIP

It's my least favourite of the ambient series, but that isn't to say it isn't a solid album that very much fits into the series overall. It certainly is worth multiple listens and something new is revealed with each listen. But I do at times find the piano kind of takes me out of Eno's original goal of having his ambient music be less interfering with the environment and more augmentative. In fact, Ambient #2 might be the most "foreground" Ambient album out of a series that is meant more for background music.

Does anyone know if this is getting a repress? If so, when? Strange how they just re-issued ambient 1 and 4

This pressing has occasional rampant non-fill issues. Buyer beware, demand a play test.

This is probably one of the most beautiful musics ever produced by man. It is cold and warm at the same time. It is both spring and autumn as well as endless deserts and endless waters. Track 2 was played on Swedish TV shortly after the horrible "Estonia"-catastrophy and, well, SVT couldn't have chosen a more suitable soundtrack. I recommend this album with all my heart and soul. This is music for births and deaths. My vinyl copy is getting somewhat outworn, though, but it doesn't really matter, because this music is too strong to be outworn...
