I always thought the difference between these two tracks was almost comical, like they're by different artists. At the time, "Eclipse" sounded like a generic UK prog house tune that felt dated as soon as you were done listening to it. I remember flipping it over to "Big Mouth" and thinking "is this the same band??". Pretty sure that Hernandez was Rick Smith's pseudonym, and Velasquez was Darren Emerson's pseudonym, so clearly Emerson stepped in on the B-side and showed the old codgers how it's supposed to be done. "Big Mouth" was the first sign of things to come with Underworld, and is basically a prototype of "Dark and Long" with the exact same BPM and bass line. "Big Mouth" destroyed dance floors even then, and it really hasn't dated all that much. Any Underworld collection is incomplete without this, the first evidence that they were about to dominate clubs for several years to come.
Big Mouth - Oh yes now this is a tune !
Its all about the harmonica sound - its so funky, mixed with the percussion and other rifts and elements that flow into the track, with track taking quite a different feel at around half way through, when the harmonica drops out and the track has a darker more progressive feel to it for while until which keeps you interested , that rift starts to drop back in awesome track
Eclipse - is also a decent track taking a deeper progressive vibe, with an uplifting melody which switched into a more acid vibe as the track develops. Another gem from JBO.
