- Edited 3 years agoSorry but I'm not very satisfied about this pressing. It sound cold, the sound lacks depth, the bass on "Hybrid" covers everything.
I think that the original on Brainiak sounds much better. - Edited 6 years agoAfter eagerly waiting for this beauty of a record to land at my address I was not disappointed! And the truth be told I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. Why? Because of the consistency of reissues coming from the mighty MPS crew! When the head honcho Robin means preservation he truly means it!
I bought the original pressing from Zoom Records, Camden, London when it came out in 1990. And it was a truly astonishing record from start to finish. Whether I played this out at small raves or just in my bedroom I always got that serious look from the 'heads' who love music. This is abstract Techno and quite experi-mental but it's still very danceable. In fact, this is psychedelic, dub, and trance-like. I love all the tracks but significantly Hybrid always pricked my ears up and gave me goosebumps down my arms and made my brain tingle (no drugs involved this was and still is in the purest and natural form!). The bass lines are so heavy, the percussion sways and the ambient sweeping sounds are nothing short of perfection!
So back to the reissue. Wow! This record just went further up a level with the sound. An audio delight. And to think that this track is 28 years old and is still heavily in demand really does show what an incredible landmark record this is. This is an audio science.
Also a special mention of the label artwork. I love Op Art (Optical Art) and have always been an admirer of Bridget Riley. So when I'm spinning this wax I get two great bits of stimulation. The hypnotic sound and visual art. Overal this reissue has been seriously well thought out. Nuff thanx to MPS. The crew who are passionate and true to the game. Why? Because they have good souls! Peace.
P.s. I am not gonna moan about sellers. But all I can say is. Karma is a beeeitch lol.
P.p.s. Oh, and I would love to know what David Campbell thinks of this. Answers on a postcard to somewhere in the cosmic sound galaxy! - The pressing is nothing less than magnificent - every detail is captured in a pure form - big up MPS for real deal quality control - Peace
- The quality of the cut on this remastered version is stunning, significantly better than the original
