This was a controversial track when it was fresh. Some critics saw the mixture of hardcore techno with a children's public service announcement sample as edgy and clever, while others thought it was corny and in poor taste. I think it's a shame that people couldn't look deeper to the core grit of this track. It's truly awesome, and a heavy dance floor hitter. To me, it has a classic sound, but it doesn't date itself to '91. I love it, glad to have it in my collection. Alley cat mix is the one to spin for me.

Happy 31th anniversary to Legendary Charly. The first single of The Prodigy that changed The rave scene in 1991.

Big 12" this one, "Charley" "Alley Cat Mix" was probably the better know & heavily played track with its cheeky sample from a safety advert for kids from the late 1980's. But then you also have "Your Love" which later became a huge track in its own right, along with the tough driving beats & synth of "Pandemonium".

Charly was a great track if you fancied a cheesy night of techno and rave at the local bar but Your Love on the flip side was much more of an anthem and is up there with serious club tunes of the day like Bizarre Inc - Playing With Knives, Brothers in Rhythm - Peace and Harmony, Last Rhythm - Last Rhythm, Shades of Rhythm - Sound of Eden, etc.

The unreleased Original Original Mix is found on the 10 Track Demo Tape, and the unreleased Remix '91 version is found on the 5 Track Demo Tape which featured via Flash on the band's website for a week back in 2007. The Website back then also had the Studio Version of Death Of The Prodigy Dancer.

Whilst the title track Charly got the attention. The standout track on this seminal 12 is Your Love. A FANTASTIC Piano track that gives me goose bumps everytime.
BTW The sample was from a TV public information advert featuring a cartoon cat telling kids to watch the road before they cross.

Your love all the way, last track when the lights went up back in the day and the roof would nearly go off!
