Show All 16 Reviews- Truly fantastic sound on this release, like most of the other Parlophone reissues. Incredible dynamics especially on the instrumentals, which sound euphoric here. Must buy
- Decent pressing, very little noise though the mix is quite middly as others have suggested. Sounds great though, particularly the more ambient side two. Nice extras in the packaging too.
- Edited 7 months agoGreat pressing. Horrible remastering. Too loud, no dynamics, and a flat harsh sound. Sounds probably great to someone who can also enjoy a bricked mp3. Yuck.
- For god’s sake! Please 🙏 at least read the release info before listing as laziness on my watch will cost you hard earned feedback % I’ve order about 15 copies of the ‘replacement’ vinyl listed here; only to be sent a bog standard repress WITH A PICTURE SLEEVE!!! I was having chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the time and PARLOPHONE kindly took months to get back to me, only to tell me that I had missed the ‘window of opportunity of offer of replacement!!! 😤 Any picture sleeve copy is not a ‘replacement’ copy for the Boxset, sending me a bog standard repress minus the sleeve will also land you in proverbials!!!
- Edited 8 months agoAnother excellent Bowie release, Heroes features a mix of Bowie's well-loved art rock songs, with several Brian Eno ambient pieces on side B.
This is the 2018 reissue which sounds great. There are plenty of sparkling highs and very full bass. If anything, a slight scoop to the mids, but does not detract in any way from the music. Expert mixing has produced a very complex soundstage, which is appreciated since there are so many layers of tracks being shoehorned into the stereo field. Most Bowie-produced records share this approach, including Lou Reed's Transformer, and others.
The Eno pieces are brilliant ambient works, symphonic in nature, and not unlike his "Discreet Music" album from 2 years prior.
Great pressing, no complaints. 180 g vinyl, clean flat and dead silent.
Recommended. - Edited 8 months agoOne of the best sounding records that I own. It is so loud and noisy but in just the best way. Sounds like your in Bowie's basement on the first side and in outer space on the second side. Definitely get this version if you can, amazing and other-worldly.
- Edited one year agoAfter listening longer, the LP pressing is great, but the new mix seems terribly wrong. Bass booms & treble shrieks. This album should be both extreme and balanced in its complex textures. I prefer my old original pressing LP.
- Superb remastering and packaging. The current Bowie RM RE have been spot-on, and are your ‘go to pressings.
- Picked up a used (Mint) copy of this pressing today! I think it sounds excellent. No surface noise whatsoever. I have no issues with it at all.
