Reviews
- For my money the be(a)st album of the 1990's. An incredible, emotionally-charged, abstract yet soaked in tradition narrative of the Jewish experience: repression, fear, isolation, claustrophobia, persecution.
A song-cycle, really, with written texts reappearing in a variety of forms and styles: liturgy, plainchant, industrial, drone, minimalist, bombast. The presence of Marta Sebestyen adds more class to the proceedings. Words fail, really. Has to be heard/experienced in its entirety to appreciate what Brian Eno calls' The most frightening record i've ever heard'! And that's sayin' some.
