- If the Craft One Step sounds $80 better than this, it’s really gotta be amazing, because this is fantastic.
- The clarity in this copy is unreal. Amazing soundstage with a real clarity to Hayes’ voice. It’s perfect
- Does anyone know if this is the exact same pressing as below? That one is labeled "Not labeled for sale in USA and Canada" so maybe they're the same pressing? I ordered the Craft version and got this so I'm wondering if it's worth returning :/
https://www.discogs.com/release/18993922-Isaac-Hayes-Hot-Buttered-Soul - I’ve been delaying buying this record for ages because I wanted a clean copy with excellent mastering and pressing that would really show off the sublime music that is contained within it, and I’m delighted that I chose this pressing.
Huge sound with crystal clear dynamics and huge soundstage. I don’t know if I just got exceptionally lucky but the pressing is perfect too. It’s a little pricey here in the UK due to import costs, but I would go out on a limb and say that you would have to go a long way to better this. Highly recommended. - Insanely good sounding reissue. Havent heard the original but this one is phenomenal. It's so lively that some might feel it a bit too bright depending on your cart, especially one that could be prone to sibilance, but I get the feeling that perhaps this is the way the og master tapes sound. Love the tip-on jacket too. Pressing wise I got a flat and silent copy aside from two big pops right in the (almost silent) groove between B1 and B2, lucky me I guess. However, side 2 was off center so I managed to center it myself by filing the spindle hole a bit. Now it's perfect. Can't complain.
- No much to add to the all reviews but this reissue sound great. How great it will be for the vinyl community if all reissues were just close in quality to this one. Good job!
- Edited 3 years agoReally nice sounding reissue but Memphis Record Pressing's lack of quality control continues to amaze me. My copy has a significant amount of excess vinyl on the edges that wasn't trimmed, making the record visually oblong. Pressing is also off-center.
- The Craft STAX reissues I’ve picked up have all been pretty great, no exception here. I hope they keep them coming. I have an original Enterprise copy and this one is a more enjoyable listen for me. Can you dig it?
