Recommendations
Reviews
- Superb production by Geir Jenssen, but this album is quite capable of standing on it's own as a fantastic slice of artic ambience. Dark, murky, and bearing a passing resemblance to mid-period Biosphere albums like "Substrata", "Black Smoker" creates a turbulent, gaseous atmosphere filled with subtle sequenced bleeps, thudding bass, and hints of glitchy rhythym. On only a few tracks, notably "Dark Little Something", does Opdahl break out some 4/4 drums, which blend suprisingly well with the darkness. Overall, highly recommended, and an excellent second release for Biophon.
