Show All 22 Reviews- Yeah, this is absolutely fantastic. This pressing truly shines in the second half, the mastering providing a new layer to the haunting production present in the instrumentals. Must buy.
- I am actually surprised by this pressing. Bought from shop & thought well if its not good will just take back (like I have done with quite a few remastered new pressings lately !). However this is a keeper, the soundstage is not colossal but it is not exactly boxed in either. The clarity and separation is very good, the pressing is flat & there are no pops or clicks & between passages it is dead silent. I am still tempted to grab an old pressing just to see how they compare, I imagine some added static pops & clicks & a superior soundstage would be the result. Very happy with the punchy synths & nice deep bass, separation from bottom up is excellent !
- Edited 6 months agoFrom '77, a very fine piece of experimental/art rock from maestro Bowie. Guitars by Carlos Alomar and some ambient work(side B) by Mr Eno. ;)
David Bowie is utterly full of music, and his albums from this era demonstrate a seeming endless stream of original ideas.
His self-produced works are always of very high quality. This contrasts nicely with the deliberate low budget artwork and sleeve, with sticker to indicate songs.
I'm unable to compare this reissue with an original press, but this one seems quite engaging and reasonable. The vinyl is dead silent, and mastering seems quite nice.
Recommended. - My Side B pops throughout Warszawa and gets louder on Art Decade, not sure if everybody else got the same problem, this sucks. It's the best side of the album :( Gonna have to rebuy it!
- This remaster and pressing sounds completely different from the period pressing I own. A much more detail rich sound, but with some digititis causing the soundstage to sound flatter relative to my period pressing.
- I am so impressed with the detail level of this reissue, or should I say reproduction. Even the original inner sleeve enclosed additionally? Serioulsy? Even the sticker on the back… The quality of this pressing also leaves no doubts. All feels really special.
- Edited one year agoAbsolutely fantastic reissue. Completely silent flat pressing. Prefer this to my original!
