Reviews
- I have followed Mark Van Hoen since the early ‘90s when he made his mark on the techno and ambient house scene. Van Hoen’s Locust project was one of the first to transition from raves to conventional songcraft with the still-breathtaking Morning Light album from 1997. Van Hoen’s releases under his own name follow a more personal muse. A year or so ago Van Hoen relocated to Los Angeles, presumably to find fortune in the soundtrack business. But with Invisible Threads he seems more interested in droneworks than tightly sculpted emotional engines of the sort that films or video games require. I miss Van Hoen’s ingenuous dismantling of pop song form down to its basic affective drive. For now, the drone carries the day.
- Ah the genius did it again a beautiful album all around from start to finish highly recommend this wonderful album by mark🎧🎼
