Edited 11 years agoI will divulge the ultimate ambient tranceAdelic tune of all time !!!!!!!!!!! Original mix please the DJ don't mess up promoters !!!! Don't forget me !- Innersphere's _Out Of Body_ is like a dream, where your consciousness drifts in a sea of piano-based darkness until the beats come by remind you that something awaits on the horizon. On this single, 3 remixers bring their own interpretations of the dream. Andrew Weatherall starts off with ambient dub, transforming the piano line into a high-pitched synth. And then the funk kicks in. David Hedger, one half of Innersphere itself, goes the route of pounding techno that wouldn’t fit out of place on _Outer Works_. And The Orb offers a completely abstracted version where tones linger in the air, retaining nothing more than the movie sample from the original.
There's an interesting variety of tracks on this single... The original mix is a classic chill-out tune with a long poignant ambient intro, beautiful piano-line and elegant composition. Andy Weatherall's remix offers some good downtempo musings but is spoilt by a high-pitched whine which recurs throughout its twelve minutes. The "Quad 3" mix by David Hedger gives a distinct change of pace - it's a serious 145bpm industrial-techno track with a really fierce acid-line although half-way through this gives way nicely to the gorgeous ambience of the original. Finally The Orb's remix adds vocal samples from the movie <i>Flatliners</i> to a fantastically sinister and trippy excursion, sounding typically nothing like the track that inspired the remix. :)
