This, for me, is where it all began. In 1986, while still at school, i had a mix tape. can't remember how i got it. No track names, no information of any kind. This was on it. i was obsessed. Played it so much i killed the cassette by rewinding it too often. Much later i tracked it down. It still stands out even today, 35 years later. This Brutal House is an absolute seminal record, i don't think it gets the recognition it deserves, but it's status, as such, is i think beyond dispute.

Such a ground breaking tune back then, has this one been forgotten ? did into the origins of house and this one should be top!
Well produced and punchy, All time favorite of early house for me (also crossing over from Electro)

"This Brutal House" is an early-on in the club/house genre and while other early 'house' songs preceded this one by a year or two, I'd say that Nitro Deluxe's 14 minute bomb throws down the apron as one of the best produced during that era. What allows "This Brutal House" to flourish is the way it expands on the oh-so-familiar house beat by actually adding some nice synthesizer work and wild vocals throughout. The last time I checked my 12" cabinet, I could name 100's of early acid house songs that play rip off, off each other to the point of boredom. Not for this song - this is definately a forerunner in my mind!!
