Notes
A compilation of distinctive sound recordings selected from the Francis, Day & Hunter, Conroy and KPM Music libraries. A companion CD to KPM 223 Archives 5.
From inlay:
There is no substitute for the original authentic sounds of the 1940s and 1950. Contemporary composers had a special feel for the production music of the period. Studio technicians fully appreciated the requirements of professional users, resulting in performances that now trigger an instant nostalgic response from listeners. Some of the very best recordings in the world were made in 1947 and 1948 [by] Sidney Torch conducting the New Century Orchestra at EMI's famous Abbey Road Studios in London. The unique sound they achieved will be found on tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 21 to 23, 27 to 29, 33 and 34. If the precise mood you require is not available on this CD, may we draw your attention to the following companion recordings from the same period:
KPM 81 CD: tracks 12, 25 and 28.
KPM 223 CD: tracks 2 to 7, 11, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 27 to 32.
All the tracks on this CD have been remastered from the original records using the latest CEDAR process which eliminates all obtrusive background noise. However, should you wish to retain some of the familiar hiss and crackle of the period, you can overdub track 48 from KPM 84 CD.
Tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 22 & 25 were used in the 1950's US TV Version of 'Superman' along with track 6 on the companion CD KPM 223.
