Initially the Obscure titles were available via mail order only and so were rarely found in stores. Distribution on a broader scale took place later on, perhaps in early 1978 following the shift from Island to Polydor.

one MIRACLE, still unsolved: debut PENGUIN CAFE ORCHESTRA, Obscure 7, has year 1976 on the cover ... i bought since 1975 every new album on Obscure from two very good import shops in switzerland (called Musicland, Henry Cookson and BRO Records, Ingo Schlote) .... i found OBSCURE 7 not before March 1978 ... is it possible that this album (due to distribution changes, perhaps) was in shops worldwide not before 1977-78? any proof (as first reviews or test pressing) is welcome !
