It's not audiophile and I'm sure there are better pressings of these songs, but it sounds pretty good for a reasonable price and should be more than enough for casual fans.
The vinyl is somewhat quiet but I do have a volume knob and when I turn it up it feels like I'm at the bar with Shane drinking straight gin and remembering the good old times. Or not. Maybe I'm just here by myself drinking straight gin remembering old times that should have been good and weren't because I didn't know anything. The only thing that could make this compilation better (or worse depending on how you look at it) would be the inclusion of Summer in Siam. Coz I spent many a summer in Siam and I miss those days more than I care to think about.
Very good record. Sound is 4+ out of 5. Andrew and Darryl sound great, this has a full sound on most songs. Great compilation of The Pogues music. I found it hard to find in stores in Ala and Miss. A friend bought it on a trip to the UK and Ireland for me. If you can find it online or in a store - I would recommend you buy it.
Qualità eccellente, musica adorabile e registrazione che suona divinamente! Inoltre il vinile arriva in una inner sleeve con protezione antistatica come dovrebbero essere ormai tutti i dischi! 5 stelle super meritate
I'm posting this review as I was looking for reviews on Discogs of this pressing but found none and would like to let others know what I thought of it and possibly save people some cash. Purchased today and overall it's disappointing. I knew instantly something was afoot when I was having to turn the amp up to levels not normally used, just to get some decent volume. It lacks clout and verve to say the least. To give it its dues it does sound clean and polished - possibly compressed or more digital in feel - at least that's the impression I got. It lacks the kind of wallop the Pogues would have delivered.
